A roof in West Houston does harder duty than almost anywhere in the country. From April through October it bakes under Texas sun that pushes attic temperatures well past what most shingles were tested for. Spring brings hail and straight-line winds off the storm fronts, fall brings hurricane season, and the humidity works year-round on any spot where flashing or sealant has let go. A proper repair matches the shingle, replaces rather than re-tars failed boots and flashing, and checks the surrounding field for damage you cannot see from the ground. Replacement done by the book

When a roof is at the end of its life, replacement starts with tear-off down to the decking, because covering problems does not cure them. Soft or rotten decking gets replaced, drip edge and underlayment go down to spec, valleys and penetrations get properly flashed, and the field is nailed to the shingle manufacturer's pattern so the wind rating you paid for actually applies. We finish with ridge venting matched to your soffit intake, because a vented attic is the difference between a shingle that lasts and one that cooks from below.

Storm season honesty

After every serious hail or wind event, the west side fills with out-of-town trucks selling roofs door to door. Our advice does not change: get the roof looked at by someone who will show you photos, put the findings in writing, and still be in Houston next year.
